The industry-standard Cisco Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) Gigabit Interface Converter (Figure 1) links your switches and routers to the network. The hot-swappable input/output device plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot. Optical and copper models can be used on a wide variety of Cisco products and intermixed in combinations of 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX/LH, 1000BASE-EX, 1000BASE-ZX, or 1000BASE-BX10-D/U on a port-by-port basis.

Cisco now offers a range of all new 400G Digital Coherent QSFP-DD transceivers. Cisco already offers a range of Digital Coherent CFP2 transceivers capable of supporting up to a 200-Gbps wavelength. Thanks to the miniaturization of the technology with a 7-nm manufacturing procedure and innovation in silicon photonic technology, it is now possible to squeeze a 400G-capable Digital Coherent WDM interface within a QSFP-DD form factor.

The Cisco QSFP-DD800 modules introduce 8x100G and 2x400GGBASE Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Double-Density (QSFP-DD) modules, offering customers super-high-density pluggable transceivers along with the flexibility of 400 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity options for data centers, high-performance computing networks, enterprise core and distribution layers, and service provider applications. The QSFP-DD800 modules are Cisco’s new generation of 2x400G pluggable transceiver modules based on a QSFP-DD form factor.
